Chernobyl Warning
24th April 2000 (Computimes)

F-Secure has issued a warning about the CIH virus (also known as the Chernobyl), which activates every year on April 26. The IT security firm said when CIH activated last year, in April 1999, it caused the most damage done by one virus. According to the latest statistics, more than two million PCs suffered data loss because of the CIH virus last year.

The biggest damages last year occured in Asia, according to Mikko Hypponen, F-Secure's manager of anti-virus research, who added that this might happen again."In any case, CIH damages in 2000 will not be nearlyas big as they were in 1999," he said.
