Student: I'm a Victim of Net Abuse

KUALA LUMPUR: A school computer claub head has been receiving an average of 70 telephone calls daily over racially sensitive caricatures purportedly sent by him via email. Lim Seng Hoong, 17, said yesterday taht he was a victim of Internet abuse. Speaking at a news conference organised by the MCA Public Service and Complaints Bureau here, Lim said the e-mail depicting the racially sensitive caricatures were sent to several people sine last Tuesday along with his name, address and phone number.

"As a result of this, there have been non-stop phone calls averaging 70 per day from those who received the e-mail asking what is the purpose of this insult," said Lim, who will be sitting for his Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination which begins today. Lim said the e-mail address was not his and that he had never registered with Hotmail. He said he did not draw the cartoons and had never tried to abuse other races, adding that his photograph was taken from the school yearbook.
