Do not entertain phone enquiries: Maybank
21st January 2002 (The Sun)

KUALA LUMPUR: Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank) said it is not conducting any enquiries on personal details of account holders through the telephone, and warns customers not to entertain such calls.

Maybank said it was aware that an unauthorised personnel who claimed to be "a staff of Maybank" had made telephone calls to customers, requesting them to give details of their accounts such as username, password and PIN to enable certain transactions to be carried out.

"We wish to forewarn all our customers not to entertain such calls, especially if they were to ask about their password or PIN for any account they have with Maybank," a spokesman said on Friday.

He said a password or PIN should never be revealed at any time by an account holder.

Maybank customers and members of the public are advised to contact Maybank should they receive such calls or should they need any further clarification.

Numbers to call are within peninsular Malaysia, for Sabah and for Sarawak.
