About NISER Project Secure 2002 Survey Report

This survey represents the second wave of research (the first wave was conducted in 2001) conducted among government and private sectors. It serves as an information-gathering tool for NISER to formulate appropriate measures and policies to address ICT security issues.

NISER Project Secure 2002 Survey Report Objectives

This research aims to accomplish the following objectives:

  • Obtain levels of awareness amongst private and government sectors on computer crimes.

  • Determine the scope of computer crimes in terms of past incidences as well as the types of computer crimes.

  • Gauge financial losses inflicted due to computer crimes.

  • Understand past and present computer security breaches encountered.

  • Anticipate future directions towards computer security in terms of preventive measures and implementation of security defense systems.

NISER's Respondents Registration

NISER requires that all respondents who are interested in downloading a free copy of the project survey to register at NISER's website first. This is to ensure that NISER will have a ready-made participants list for future surveys that are going to be conducted. Please bear in mind that NISER is a non-for-profit organization which aims to provide good and mostly free service to the public, thus we shall require some feedback from the public on certain issues from time to time to keep us updated on the current situation of the ICT security front in Malaysia. All respondents detail will be kept private and confidential and would never be released for public consumption.

Future NISER Surveys

Since NISER is the government-funded body responsible in dealing with ICT security issues in Malaysia, we find it imperative to conduct ICT security-related surveys from time to time. Thus we will need cooperation from the Malaysian public and private sectors to respond to the surveys in order for us to do proper analysis and interpret the findings before releasing them for public consumption.
